Throughout July while memorizing Psalm 19:7-14, not to late to join, I digress. Throughout July I’ve been studying the book of Job and the poetic beauty and amalgamation of truths that can make for liberalism held alongside the sovereignty of God where he works his ways juxtaposed to what our judgments can so easily hold to. All that to say this book lays out the quick judgments of man based on their hard view of who God is with black and white precision; while God shows he’s not so Black and White. 🤔
Job swears he’s innocent of great sin. While Eliphaz expresses his rebuke of Job from experience. He speaks as the Wisdom of Proverbs, this, plus this should equal this. And in many cases the equation is right and reasonable. But God is not so Black and White.
We do that in this way, “if you are Christian parents and your children don’t choose to walk with the Lord, what did you as parents do wrong?” That’s a Western Christian Eliphaz argument today. We see that a lot. But God is not so Black and White.
Bildad’s argument holds to tradition. Mom and Dad did it like that, their folks too, so you not doing the same means you must be doing something wrong.
“For generations we went to church 3 times a week. You only go on Sunday no wonder your life is difficult.” But God is not so Black and White.
Now Zophar argues from a place of his own understanding. Now let me say, “these arguments have bases in reality.” They hold to truths about God.
THE PROBLEM IS THEY MAKE CONCLUSIONS AS TO HOW GOD SHOULD ACT. God is not so Black and White.
God already told us who Job was as a blameless and upright man. Not sinless because he made sacrifices for his children and probably for himself just in case any of them, “cursed God in their hearts.” This shows he also understood repentance.
I feel Job’s hurt. Knowing as far as you can that you haven’t done anything to sin against God, yet you’re life may look like you’re guilty according to experience, tradition and man’s wisdom.
God and only God and perhaps Satan, or his minions know your assignment of hardship. It may not be due to sin, as so many may suspect and secretly accuse.
God knows You will hold to integrity in Him.
No matter how embarrassed.
No matter the shame.
No matter the accusations. All faced by Job, and like him You will not curse God but hold to your integrity.
And like Job, who in his argument asked God to expose sin. He was ready to repent. But there was none, there was only:
A readiness to Worship.
A rebuke of anyone who’d accuse your God of unfairness
A resolve to stay faithful no matter the accusations against you.
That’s STANDING IN YOUR INTEGRITY FOR YOUR LORD!
Blessings and Stay the Course
