“Our Father, Who Art in Heaven.” The God who is near at hand while not hindered by the limitations of time.
“Hallowed be Your Name.” The Holy One. The Only God worthy of True Worship. God who is All-Powerful.
“Your Kingdom Come, Your Will be done; on Earth as it is in Heaven.” God whose purposes will not be thwarted. Whose reign in Heaven will be brought to earth. Who has given Us, the privilege to work His Work on earth, filled with His Spirit, freed by His Son. God allows us to join with him in his Kingdom, coming into the hearts of men, women, and children on earth. James 5:16
“Give us today our daily bread.” The God who’s given us the ability to work, prosper, and take care of our needs. Yet, we cannot become dependent on our plenty, or it becomes an idol. To depend on God is to remember and live the reality that all we have belongs to him.
As the writer of Proverbs 30:7-9 asked, “Two things I ask of you, Lord;
do not refuse me before I die:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.
9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.” That should be our desire.
“And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” In conjunction with our heart to forgive and show mercy, may we receive from You, dear Father? A conciliatory heart, ready to forgive and prepared to reconcile with those who repent, is a heart like God’s.
“Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” God who’s given us His Word to open our eyes to the things he hates and given us his Spirit to do the things He loves. Ephesians 6:10-18, We are without excuse.
“For Yours is the Kingdom; Yours is The Power. FOREVER!” These words aren’t found in the newer translations. However, you can read them in prayer by David found in I Chronicle 29:11-13. Whether these are Jesus’ words or added because David was the lineage of Jesus is not a necessary argument. These powerful words are truths taken from Scripture and should be attributed to the character of God.
He is God all alone. He is the Only One capable of answering this prayer in the affirmative. With A Word, we agree, and in faith, we believe... AMEN!
