Loving God Under Trials 12 "Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
I was talking to my friend at work about living out our Christianity practically. 2 Peter 1:3 says, "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness..." The operative for that reality is what Peter follows with, "through the knowledge of him..." The former cannot come without the knowledge of him. This is not informational knowledge alone, but it includes intimate and familiar knowledge through experience and by relationship. My friend and I continued and I was telling her that right now our Country looks like so many believers are becoming part of the "woke" culture. It resembles the movie, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." I may have just called it "body snatchers." She was unfamiliar with the movie.
Today many who are claiming "knowledge of him" truly walk around as if they are more in the "WOKE" crowd than standing against it. And unfortunately, they appear to militate the same despising, as the world does for those on an opposite political side than themselves. The movie, "The invasion of the Body snatchers" came to mind. However, the spiritual reality is they may be revealing themselves as babes in Christ or as if their soul was never transformed to the light, so I call it "Invasion of the Soul Snatchers."
In the original movie from the '80s in the dark of night while a person slept an invading force came upon them and snatched their body. The person woke up and was emotionless. They were unaffected by hardships, harm, or the devastation of others. They looked the same, continued as part of their family, employment, and community. The major change, when they became WOKE is they were disconnected from the ability to love others. The invasion went further, they could not tolerate anyone who had not fallen asleep and become invaded or WOKE. Those who would not become woke were to be destroyed.
Those who recognized the harm of these new woke people, including their own loved ones, did all they could to not fall asleep and become one of the "Woke," whose soul was snatched.
As those who hadn't become woke began to understand what was happening. Some feigned emotionlessness at times to get through a day and not be attacked. With one tear of empathy or expression of love, they were exposed. Then those invaded by "wokeness" would screech out, point, and caterwauling to gain the attention of those in charge. This put those unaffected's life in jeopardy. The consequences of not being woke were to lose everything or go into hiding and perhaps dragged away and imprisoned until they fell asleep and became Woke.
However there were many who'd rather stand for something, they'd put their lives out there to expose the tyranny of this alien invasion. They persevered, and in the end, though hated, though pointed out as an enemy, the helicopters came in and rescued them. They were tattered, tired, and the toil on losing so many was overwhelming. They stood, nonetheless. They persevered, they received their crown. They refused to give in to wokeness, they would not allow themselves to be part of the invasion of the soul snatchers.
Believers must not slumber and become "Woke." We must fight tirelessly for the souls of those we love. We must remember there is a cost to become lackadaisical to the harm of our new culture. There is eternal jeopardy, so stay alert, don't become, "Woke."
