“Name it, Claim it.”

As you read this, you may pick up that these truths are entirely antithetical to most Western Christianity.

1. "Faithfulness to God often turns success - oriented lifestyles upside down. Instead of increase, God values decrease (John 3:30).

2. Instead of pursuing wealth, popularity, fame, security, God calls us to abandon ourselves to His mission... (He) often leads us away from comfort, security, wealth, and safety.

Following Jesus is a call to danger.

a. It is a call to mission and self-denial (Matthew 16:24).

b. God calls us to abandon the pleasures of idolatry, to break our addictions to jealousy, materialism, greed, entertainment, and fornication."

These are the words of Christian George 'professor of biblical and theological studies at Oklahoma Baptist University.

This is definitely something to ponder. Do you ever question why so many who sit in Churches Sunday after Sunday believe Christianity is a life of ease and wealth? Many call it the "Word of faith." Which has been adopted as "our best life now." Scripture is replete in communicating the above realities of Christianity unless you eisegete the Scripture or interpret it for your pleasure and not what it says.

Understand this, what you believe about being a Christian has substantial implications on how you live for God or demand he lives for you. Remember, it is the truth that sanctifies us and sets us free. Christianity is not "Name it, claim it." It is submission, dying to self, loving God and others. Now you can "Name that" and "Claim that!"
