The Lord is not placated by our good deeds or strict obedience to His Commands.
1 Chronicles 16:9 “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him...”
King Asa learned this lesson the hard way. His attempt to lean on his own understanding and not the promises of God brought this conclusion, “you have done foolishly...”
It will never be our own understanding that makes God “give strong support.” It’s not a strict legalistic approach to his Commands that will move God toward us.
We cannot capriciously handle his Word. We should not think of doing so, “his grace will abound” or he will be drawn towards us. Asa and other Kings learned those lessons. Their exciting stories fill the pages of 1&2 Kings and Chronicles. Lots of lessons we can learn in this regard. 😘
Back to the subject, you can read Matthew 5-7, Jesus spells out what Loving Him in Obedience, the blameless heart, looks like. He exposits the reality of the blameless heart and disabused our idea of what we think it means.
Have a blameless heart Day!
1 Corinthians 15:58
