I love the picture Peter paints in 1 Peter 1:13-16 “Therefore,” (follows the promises made that now lead to action) “gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and REST your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, YOU ALSO be holy in all your conduct... BE HOLY, for I AM holy.”
What picturesque commands! Deliberate; Determinative; and Direct! What came before? Peter declares truth breathed by God, “His divine power has given us everything WE NEED...” to accomplish the, “THEREFORE!” But sadly, we see these beautiful commands and before we get to the end, how many excuses have you made as to why “therefore” is impossible?
“Therefore” is followed by a standard for the success of Christian living. The commands given by the God who has given us EVERYTHING we need for the Power after the commands that followed “therefore!”
