You have dealt bountifully with me

Psalm 13:1-2 are words similar to my prayers to God. I don’t back away from my Conservatism and my support for President Trump. It’s been hard watching so much wrong being looked passed and affirmed. My faith in Jesus begs for justice and righteousness to be brought in our land. I’ve prayed this all along, but all the more as the evil seems to become ubiquitous and without restraint.

As the Psalmist ask God, “... will you forget me forever?” I feel that. I was sure the same evil actions I saw, God saw even clearer. Yes he does see. Yet, after much prayer and fasting God answered with, “No!” At least to the request I was asking of him. He knows the plans he has. Now, I ask that his kingdom come and his will be done. To that he answers yes, every time.

I know many righteous people are tired of the evil that is pervasive in our land. It appears to be getting worse. Like the Psalmist, we feel forgotten.

If we continue to read we will find out the Psalmist is not without hope. Not even a little. He doesn’t stop in the negative, he offers us much encouragement. He calls himself and now us to remember the multitude of blessings in our lives. It’s a cup full Psalm. Not even half full, no matter its beginning.

We must remember all the blessings we do have.

We must remember all God’s Word speaks in reference to protecting his remnant of true believers, no matter the chaos. He doesn’t always protect us from, but definitely through. We must remember the hope found in him.

We must remember what he tells us about the perseverance he wants for his children through difficulty, James 1:12. He’s looking for refined silver and pure gold in is. That takes fire. That takes going through an evil land. That takes dealing with evil people. The question for us is, will we see the bounty of his presence and blessings? Will we only see the evil at play and drown in discourgement and hopelessness.

As we remember all God’s bounty in our lives and so much more, we will declare the same truth as the Psalmist. We will count our blessings. We will wait through God’s long suffering and declare, “I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD because he has death bountifully with me.”

We keep praying. We also continue to glory in God because the World is watching. You’ll be surprised at those who ask, “how can you be so joyful in these tough times?” You can declare, “it is the Lord, he still blesses me with his hope. And BTW in Psalm 13, it says,’he deals bountiful with me.’ Let me explain.”

In all that, there are amazing opportunities to make disciple.
